Bhubaneswar: Lingaraj Police found a woman lying in a pool of blood inside a room of a house at lane no-5 of Gouri Nagar in the city early on Sunday.
According to police sources, preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased, identified as Alka, had been staying with another woman Anisha in a rented accomodation (where the murder took place) since a long time.
They were allegedly in a relationship. Though the deceased owned a house at Jharpada, she had moved in with Anisha into the rented house.
On Sunday night, the duo had a quarrel following which Anisha, in a fit of rage, attacked Alka with a knife and slit her throat, the sources added.
The incident came to light when the house owner informed the police this morning.
Later, a team of Lingaraj Police rushed to the spot and took the body for postmortem to the Capital Hospital.
Anisha was later arrested and produced before SDJM court, which rejected her bail plea and remanded her to judicial custody.
