Bhubaneswar: A woman from Odisha capital met the fate of Shraddha Walker and was stabbed 49 times to death by her alleged boyfriend with whom she was in a relationship for over 3 years.
Body of Luni Das was found in a pool of blood with multiple stab injuries near Anjani Industrial Estate in Surat on December 15. The accused, identified as Jagannath Gouda, has been arrested.
According to police sources, the accused hatched a plan to eliminate her when she insisted on marriage. He arrived in Bhubaneswar two weeks back and boarded Puri–Ahmedabad Express for Surat with her. He then took her to a secluded place and stabbed her to death. Gouda was so miffed with her that he stabled her 49 times.
“It is a blind murder case and there was no lead. After scanning 500 CCTV footage and call details, we nabbed the accused. We will soon file the chargesheet in the case. Preliminary inquiry suggests that the accused was high on drugs and also very angry while committing the crime. He felt that she was mentally torturing him and kept stabbing to ensure that there was no chance for her survival,” joint police commissioner of Surat Sarad Singhal told the media.
