Berhampur: A woman fruit seller died after being run over a speeding car in Berhampur city of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday.
As per preliminary information, the woman was selling tender coconut and fruits beside the road at Bijipur Chhak in the city when the car dashed against her stall around noon.
The woman, identified as Sabita Nayak (52) of Palur village under Golanthara police station, died after being knocked down by the speeding car.
After getting information about the mishap, a police team visited the site and sent the body for postmortem. While the vehicle was seized, the driver of the car was stated to have surrendered. Further investigation is underway.
