Woman Fulfils Late Husband’s Wish, Sells Properties To Build Ram Temple In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Baripada: In order to fulfil the wishes of her deceased husband, a woman has constructed a temple of Lord Ram from own sources in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

As per reports, the woman, Basanti Ghosh and her husband Prahllad Ghosh, belonging to Podaastia village under Shyamakhunta block, had started construction of the Ram temple on their ancestral land in their native place in 2012.

The couple, who does not have any children, found it difficult to complete the temple due to financial constraints and construction work was moving at a slow pace. Meanwhile, Prahlad passed away in 2018. As a result, the temple work stopped totally.

“Basanti wanted to resume the temple work in 2020, but restrictions related to COVID pandemic came on the way. Besides, there was fund constraints for such a huge task,” said the villagers.

But Basanti was determined to fulfil the wish of her husband and complete the half-built temple. She sold a part of their ancestral properties to meet the expenses in this regard and the construction work started towards the end of 2021.

Due to her persistent efforts and determination, the construction of Ram temple was completed this year. It was consecrated with participation of the villagers and devotees from nearby places on January 31.
