Balasore: A woman was allegedly gang-raped by a group of people in front of her husband in Sahadevkhunta area of Odisha’s Balasore district, reports said on Wednesday.
Six persons have been arrested by the police in connection with the incident which took place in the wee hours of Tuesday. The accused committed the crime after assaulting the woman’s husband with sharp-edged weapons, they said.
According to sources, the accused persons had entered the house of the couple and three of them assaulted the survivor’s husband, while the rest raped her. The accused also allegedly took away Rs 10,000 cash from the couple before leaving the place.
Police swung into action after the couple lodged a complaint on Tuesday. After conducting preliminary investigation, the police took the six accused into custody and sent some of them for medical examination.
The statement of the woman has been recorded and she was also sent for medical examination, sources said, adding that further investigation was underway.
