Dhenkanal: In a ghastly incident, a man was allegedly beaten up and his wife gang raped by a group of miscreants in Bhuban area of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
The two, who reportedly hail from Kaliapani area in Jajpur district, have been staying in Bhuban area of Dhenkanal.
As per preliminary reports, the two were returning home on a motorcycle recently when some miscreants intercepted them near near a canal in Baruna area.
After thrashing the man and taking away their mobile phones, the miscreants took his wife to a forest nearby and allegedly raped her. Following the harrowing incident, the couple informed the police and lodged a complaint.
Stating that the medical examination of the survivor has been conducted, a police official said that two suspects have been detained in connection with the gruesome incident. Efforts are on to nab three other accused, while the medical examination report is awaited.
According to Dhenkanal SP Gyanaranjan Mohapatra said, the two have been apprehended on the basis of the complaint lodged by the woman. Police have also identified the vehicle and three others allegedly involved in the crime.
