Rourkela: A woman was allegedly gang-raped by four persons in her house at Sector-7 of Rourkela in Sundargarh district on Sunday night.
The incident took place between 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm when the miscreants entered the house when she was sleeping and finding her alone, raped her.
The victim’s husband, who was out for some work, and found his wife lying in a critical condition on reaching home. She was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
“Basing on a complaint lodged by the victim’s husband at Sector-7 police station, two of the accused were arrested while two others are still at large,” a police officer informed.
A similar incident was reported on Saturday night when a seven-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at Anantpur village in Balasore district.
The girl had gone to attend a wedding near her village when one Manindra Mallick of Purosottampur village of the district took the girl to a secluded place and allegedly raped her.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by the girl’s family at Soro police station, the accused was later arrested.
On May 12, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her tuition teacher at Ambapada village in Kendrapara district.
The accused identified as Ganesh Nayak, a physically challenged man, was later arrested by Nikirei police.
