Cuttack: A woman’s courage to stand up against the blackmailing of one of her kin led to the latter’s arrest in the district.
According to police sources, Ashok Mallick of Bandahuda village under Narasinghpur police limits had allegedly taken obscene pictures and video of his sister-in-law. He showed those to her and wanted to have physical relation with her. He also threatened her of circulating the pictures on social media if she did not agree.
When the woman did not give in to Ashok’s blackmailing, he posted the pictures and video on social media. Undaunted by social repercussions, the woman filed a complaint against Ashok at Narasinghpur police station.
On the basis of the complaint, police registered a case and arrested 25-year-old Ashok. Later, police forwarded him to court.
