Woman Gives Birth To Twins During Train Journey In Odisha, RPF Role Lauded



Cuttack: A pregnant woman successfully gave birth to twin babies in Odisha’s Cuttack on Sunday during a train journey on the Rourkela-Gunupur Rajyarani Express.

According to information, the woman delivered the first baby upon arrival at the Cuttack Railway Station and the second one in the ambulance wile proceeding to SCB Medical Col


lege and Hospital in the city.

When the railway authorities got information about the woman going into labour, they acted swiftly and took immediate steps to provide medical help.

As soon as the train arrived at Platform No.3 in the morning, railway staff and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel rushed in to attend to the pregnant woman.

An emergency announcement was made via the PA system to seek a doctor or any medical personnel’s assistance at the station. A pharmacist at the station responded and immediately gave first aid to the woman.

With the support of a woman RPF official and a pharmacist present at the station, the delivery of the first baby was attended to carefully.

However, since she was carrying twins and continued with labour pain, the woman was immediately shifted to an ambulance to reach the hospital. During the course of travel in the ambulance, she delivered the second baby. The mother and both the babies are stated to be in good health.
