Sonepur: A 50-year-old woman was hacked to death at her home at Raipalli village near Lachhipur in Sonepur district on Saturday morning.
Police sources said the deceased, Laxmi Barik, was busy with her household chores when an unidentified assailant struck her with an axe. Laxmi died on the spot.
Police have sent the body for postmortem.
Police said they were yet to ascertain the cause of the murder or identify the killer.
