Baripada: A woman was caught while allegedly trying to kidnap two children from a hospital at Baripada in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
The accused woman, identified as Sandhyarani Mohanta of Totapada village under Rasagobindapur police limits in the district, has been detained at Baripada Town Police Station following a complaint lodged against her.
As per information, Sheikh Kamurudin of Sungadia area of Baripada had admitted his wife to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for delivery of child on Saturday. He together with his two children was waiting near the bed allotted to his pregnant wife. Some time later, the children were missing when he returned from washroom.
The family members were informed and a thorough search was launched. They searched for the babies and found them with the woman on the fourth floor of the hospital. A complaint was lodged and the woman was handed over to the police, who took her into custody for questioning.
“When I found my children missing, I immediately searched for them and found them with her on the fourth floor. I informed the security guard, who called the police,” Kamruddin said.
Investigation into the incident is in progress and the woman is being interrogated by the police.
