Puri: A woman was injured reportedly in an explosion triggered by chemical reaction in Odisha’s Puri district on Sunday.
According to sources, the incident took place in the house of the woman, identified as Mamali Behera, at Arakhakuda village under Arakhakuda Marine police station. Some chemicals, which are used in making of boats, were kept in bottles inside the house.
While Mamali was shifting the chemical bottles to clean the house, those exploded, injuring her on face and body. Her family members rushed her to a local hospital. Later, she was shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Puri.
Mamali’s condition was stated to be stable while the police have registered a case and started investigation into why explosive chemicals were stored in the house, the sources said.
