Bengaluru: An angry mob in Karnataka’s Hassan district attacked a woman journalist after she reported that cows were being illegally slaughtered in the area. The incident took place in Pension Mohalla in Hassan district, India Today reported.
The woman journalist, accompanied by animal lovers and police officers was trying to visit four allegedly illegal slaughterhouses and five cattle hoarding spots. As they tried to open the illegal slaughterhouses to rescue the animals, an angry mob gathered around the journalist and allegedly abused and manhandled her. The mob also threatened her with dire consequences if she didn’t leave the place at once, the report added.
The team was able to rescue only a handful of animals while the rest were reportedly hidden by Hassan Babu and Rehmaan, owners of the slaughterhouses. The police have registered an FIR in the case at Arasikere Town police station, the report said.
