Patna: Women in this country continue to be targets of sexual harassment.
A 35-year-old woman allegedly jumped off a bus in Bihar’s Purnia district to escape from a group of men who were harassing and sustained multiple injuries, police said.
Purnia Superintendent of Police (SP) Aamir Jawaid informed that cops patrolling National Highway 31 found the woman lying on the Purnia-Siliguri stretch.
The woman was taken to Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) in Purnia, where she is being treated.
The woman told police that some passengers misbehaved with her on the bus and when she resisted, they threatened her of rape.
“To escape rape bid, I jumped off the bus by breaking the window glass,” said the woman who is from Darjeeling in West Bengal.
However, cops said the woman was not consistent with her statements.
Police are trying to identify the bus in which the incident took place to establish the sequence of events.
