Jajpur: A search operation is underway to trace a woman, who allegedly jumped into the Kharasrota River in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Thursday morning.
The woman has been identified as Mandakini Samal, a resident of Adampur village and Anganwadi Supervisor at Rasulpur in the district.
According to sources, she reportedly jumped into the river from a bridge in Baruan area at around 6.30 am, leaving behind an electric scooter, helmet, shoes and mobile phone. While Jajpur Sadar police have seized the woman’s belongings and are conducting an investigation into the incident, the Fire Department has deployed rescue teams to trace her.
Sources further said that Mandakini had married in the Santara area, but was staying separately at a rented house in Jajpur. She is suspected to have jumped into the river this morning over a family feud.
