Cuttack: A woman allegedly ended her life by jumping into the Mahanadi from Jobra Barrage near Odisha’s Cuttack city on Sunday.
According to sources, she kept her bag, sandals and mobile phone and jumped into the river. She was rescued by local fishermen and admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here but succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Her identity and the reason as to why she took the extreme step are yet to be ascertained.
Four such attempts have been made in Mahanadi and Kathajodi rivers, which are overflowing with water, near Cuttack in the last five days.
