Woman Kills Husband For Demanding Money To Buy Liquor In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: A woman allegedly killed her husband following a heated argument at a village in Jagannathprasad area of Odisha’s Ganjam district.

As per preliminary information, the incident took place late on Sunday night at Chhamunda village under the jurisdiction of Jagannathprasad police station in the district.

The deceased was identified as Kapila Behera of Barisahi in the village. Locals said the couple worked in a tea garden in another state and had returned to the village recently. It was claimed that both used to fight frequently over the man’s drinking habit.

Sources said that a heated argument erupted between the two late on Sunday when the man asked for money for liquor. He allegedly abused his wife when she refused. Things took an ugly turn when the woman attacked her husband in a fit of rage with a sharp object, leading to his death.

On being informed, a team of police personnel from Jagannathprasad visited the spot and seized the body which was sent for post-mortem. Police have detained the accused and initiated a probe.
