Malkangiri: A woman Maoist was killed and 15 others were injured in an exchange of fire with police at Jagaramunda along Odisha-Chhattisgarh border late on Friday.
A huge cache of explosives, besides guns, were seized from the encounter spot.
According to available information, the police had launched a combing operation acting on a tip-off about the presence of Maoists in the area. A gun battle then ensued between police and Maoists in which a woman cadre was killed.
A search operation is on to nab other ultras who fled the spot under the cover of darkness.
