Woman, Minor Girl Drown In Dam in Odisha’s Gajapati

Mohaha: Fire Services personnel retrieved bodies of a woman and her year-old niece from Harbhangi dam in Gajapati district on Saturday.

The deceased woman, Ebani Mandal, and the minor were residents of Budhadiha village near Adaba.

According to reports, the duo had gone to the dam for a bath on Friday evening. While bathing, the child slipped into deep waters. Her aunt tried to save her, but she also drowned in the process.

The villagers rushed to the dam to trace the duo, but could not find them.

Following a complaint by the victims’ family members, Adaba police and Fire Services personnel arrived at the dam on Saturday and fished out the bodies.

The bodies were later taken to a government hospital at Adaba for post-mortem.
