Bhubaneswar: A woman was allegedly tortured to death by her in-laws for dowry at Ainginia under Khandagiri police limits in the city on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Liza Moharana.
Family members of the victim have lodged a complaint in this regard at Khandagiri police station.
They alleged that Liza was tortured by her in-laws after she refused their demand for Rs 10,000. She was admitted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, on Wednesday and succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. The injury marks on her neck clearly shows that she was severely tortured, they added.
Basing on the complaint, the police have detained the victim’s father-in-law, her mother-in-law and husband. Further investigation is on.
