Jajpur: A woman was allegedly killed by her in-laws for dowry at Gunthuripada village under Binjharpur police limits in Jajpur district on Monday.
According to sources, locals found the woman body lying in a pool of blood on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Rita Dalai (27), wife of Digambar Dalai. She belongs to Hirapur village under Susua panchayat in the district.
The incident took place, when the husband of the deceased woman and her father-in-law were not home, the sources added.
Digambar used to stay in Gujarat. Rita’s father alleged that her in-laws had been demanding dowry and torturing his daughter.
A case has been registered at Binjharpur police station in this regard and police have started investigation.
The in-laws of the deceased are currently absconding.
