Bhubaneswar: Laxmisagar police and Quick Action Team (QAT) apprehended a woman and seized brown sugar weighing 36 grams from her possession during a joint raid at Santoshi Vihar here on Saturday afternoon.
She has been identified as Ruksana Begum (34) alias Jema. Police also recovered two cellphones and Rs 41,250 in cash from her.
On Thursday night, brown sugar weighing 19.40 gm was seized from a woman of Haladipadia slum in the city. The prime accused identified as Maina Routray (37) was taken into police custody.
A few days back, the Excise Department officials had arrested a B Tech student of a private university while allegedly selling brown sugar near Big Bazaar at Patia here. Prior to that, the officials had seized brown sugar worth Rs 38 lakh from Chintamaniswar and Haldipadia in the city.
