Balangir: A woman sub-inspector (SI) of police is in a critical condition after allegedly consuming poison in Saintala area of Odisha’s Balangir district.
The SI, identified as Kajal Bag, allegedly took poison at a rented accommodation at Gopabandhu Nagar under the jurisdiction of Saintala police station on Wednesday night, sources said.
She was first rushed to a hospital at Saintala and then shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir where her condition was stated to be critical.
Locals said they heard Kajal speaking with someone loudly over the phone. Subsequently, she was suspected to have consumed some mosquito repellent liquid.
After getting information, police personnel rushed to the site and rescued her. She was immediately rushed her to Saintala government hospital and then shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital.
While the reason behind her move is yet to be ascertained, a love affair is suspected to have led to the incident.
