Woman Raped At Gunpoint By Masked Man At Rented House In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped at gunpoint by a masked man at her rented house in Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the incident took place on Wednesday night after the man forcibly entered the house and threatened the woman, who was alone.

The complaint lodged with the police claimed that the woman was inside the rented house when the accused allegedly barged in and threatened her by showing a gun. It was not confirmed whether it was a real or a toy gun.

The accused then allegedly sexually assaulted her before fleeing the area.

The woman lives in the rented house with her elder sister, while the house owner resides on the first floor.

Following the complaint, Nayapalli police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
Senior police officials, including the Bhubaneswar DCP, the Zone ACP concerned, and the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Nayapalli Police Station, visited the crime spot and inspected the locality.

Police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas of the crime scene and other surrounding locations to identify and trace the accused.

A special team has also been formed to track down the unidentified suspect. Searches and raids are being conducted at different locations in the city as part of the investigation.

The accused has not yet been traced. Nayapalli police are continuing their investigation into all aspects of the assault case. However, no comments were received from the local police in this regard.

Meanwhile, police have conducted a medico-legal examination of the rape survivor. Police have also recorded her statement under Section 180 of the BNSS.
