Balasore: A married woman was allegedly raped by a tantrik for 79 days on the pretext of solving her marital dispute in Odisha’s Balasore district.
The incident came to light after the woman lodged an FIR on Friday against her husband and in-laws, who allegedly forced her to stay with the tantrik. The woman has named her husband, his younger brother and in-laws in the FIR. She has a two-year-old son.
She has alleged in her police complaint that six months after her marriage, which took place in 2017, marital problems surfaced and that her in-laws started torturing her.
Her in-laws then took her to the tantrik, who claimed he would solve their marital dispute. The tantrik said that she would have to stay at his place for some months. Despite her protests, her in-laws allegedly left there.
The woman alleged that the tantrik repeatedly raped her during her stay there for more than 79 days.
On April 28, she managed to find the tantrik’s cellphone in his absence and texted her parents. Her parents immediately called police, who rescued her.
