Bhubaneswar: A dhaba manager allegedly raped a woman in the presence of her husband at an eatery close to the Master Canteen bus stand here on Sunday.
The incident happened on Sunday evening, but the matter came to light following the arrest of the accused Sukant Nayak, a resident of Unit-3 area in the Odisha capital.
If sources are to be believed, the poor couple was working in the dhaba for many years. The manager raped the woman when none was present in the eatery. The victim’s husband reached the spot and tried to prevent the act, but was thrashed. The accused even threatened the duo of losing the job if they reveal the matter to anyone.
On getting the information about the crime, IIC of the Capital police station Girija Shankar raided the dhaba and took the manager in custody.
A case of rape has been registered in this connection and the woman was sent for medical examination.
