New Delhi: A woman was reportedly raped and tortured by her neighbour for a month in Guna, Madhya Pradesh. The accused allegedly demanded that she marry him and transfer her parental property into his name.

According to the police, the 23-year-old woman, residing with her mother in a village on the outskirts of Guna, was allegedly confined, sexually assaulted, whipped with a belt, and beaten with a water pipe, as per a Times of India report.

The accused also allegedly applied chilli powder to her wounds and sealed her lips with glue to prevent her from screaming.

According to the publication, the victim told the police that the accused forcibly took her to his residence a month ago, where he confined her to a room, depriving her of any means of communication or escape.

On Tuesday night, after enduring another episode of torment, she somehow managed to escape from the house and walked 5 kilometres through the night to reach the Cantonment police station by morning.

Upon her arrival at the station, the police were appalled by her condition. Her lips were sealed shut with glue, her eyes were swollen, and her body bore visible signs of bruising.

The police have stated that the accused has been charged with rape and “voluntarily causing injury”.
