Woman Raped, Tortured With Iron Rod In Mumbai

Mumbai: A woman, 34, was raped and assaulted in a stationary tempo in Sakinaka here, the cops said on Friday. The woman is said to be in serious condition.

The accused, Mohan Chouhan (45), was nabbed within a few hours of the gruesome incident, said an officer.

According to the official, the police control room got a call early on Friday that a woman was being thrashed by a man on Khairani Road. On rushing to the spot, the cops found the woman lying in a pool of blood and she was immediately taken to civic-run Rajawadi hospital, the officer said.

A preliminary probe found that she had been raped and assaulted with an iron rod in her private parts, according to the officer. The incident happened inside a tempo parked on the roadside.

While investigating, the cops found blood stains inside the vehicle. The doctors said that the woman’s condition was serious, the officer said.

Police arrested accused Chauhan under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 376 (rape) and further probe was underway, the officer added.
