Sambalpur: A woman was rescued after she reportedly jumped into Mahanadi River from a bridge at Chaurapur in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Sunday.
As per information, the incident came to light after locals noticed the woman jumping into the river from the bridge and informed the Fire Service personnel. A team of Fire Service personnel immediately rushed to the site and launched a search operation.
After an intense effort, the woman was spotted and successfully rescued from the water. She was immediately admitted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
The woman has been identified as Pushpanjali Bag from Sunapali.
While the exact reason behind the drastic step of the woman remains unclear, police have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
Doctors at the hospital are closely monitoring the condition of the woman.
