Bhubaneswar: A woman was allegedly robbed at gunpoint in the Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar during the early morning hours on Wednesday.
According to sources, the incident took place around 5.30 am when the woman, who lives with her family at Gadasahi, was sweeping the verandah of her home. “The streetlights hadn’t been turned on yet at the time. rs emerged from the dark rear alleys. They held a gun to my head and demanded the gold jewellery which I was wearing. I handed over the earrings and explained that the remaining jewellery pieces were imitation. However, the assailants pressed the gun harder against my head and insisted that I hand over everything else as well,” she told a local channel.
The miscreants then fled the scene, leaving the victim completely shell-shocked.
On being informed, police arrived at the spot and began an investigation. Footage of CCTV camera is being examined to identify and apprehend the culprits. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the robbers might have been tracking the victim’s movements before striking.
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked outrage among residents of Nayapalli, who expressed fears about the rising trend of armed crimes in Bhubaneswar.
