Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police are on the hunt for two miscreants, who allegedly looted cash worth Rs 5 lakh from a woman near Trinath Bazaar Chhak at Phulanakhara under Balianta police limits here on Monday afternoon.
The incident came to light after the victim revealed the incident to the media.
According to the woman, she returned home near Trinath Bazar Chhak in a scooty after withdrawing the cash from Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) branch at Pahala around 10.09. She kept the cash bag on the verandah to attend to a call from her kin when the miscreants attacked her.
“They snatched the cash bag and ran away leaving the bike in front of my house,” she added.
Since a similar loot was reported in IOB branch at Nandan Vihar under Infocity police limits in Bhubaneswar the same day, police suspect the involvement of the same gang in both the incidents.
Police have examined the incident from the CCTV footage to identify the miscreants.
