Nuapada: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed after being hit by a speeding bus near Risagaan under Khariar police limits in Nuapada district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Belamato Barik (35).
Barik was hit by the private bus, coming from Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district, while crossing the road.
As soon as the news of the woman’s death spread in the locality, an angry mob staged a blockade near the accident spot demanding adequate compensation to the bereaved family.
They lifted the blockade following assurance from police personnel.
