Bhopal: A Madhya Pradesh court has handed death sentence to a 24-year-old woman for killing her mother-in-law by stabbing her 95 times with a sickle.
Padma Jatav, fourth additional sessions judge of Rewa, convicted Kanchan Kol for murdering her 50-year-old mother-in-law Saroj Kol.
The gruesome incident took place on July 12, 2022 in Atraila village, under Mangawa police station limits in Rewa, following a domestic dispute, The Times of India reported quoting Additional Public Prosecutor Vikas Dwivedi.
Saroj was alone at home when Kanchan attacker her. She was rushed to a nearby hospital by her son, but doctors declared her dead.
The victim’s husband Valmik Kol was initially named as a co-accused for inciting Kanchan, but later acquitted for lack of evidence.
