Cuttack: A woman set herself on fire in front of Mahanga police station in Cuttack district on Friday.
The woman was admitted to Salipur Community Health Centre and shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as her condition deteriorated.
According to doctors, the woman has suffered around 54 per cent burn injuries and is undergoing treatment.
According to reports, police nabbed the woman’s husband in a theft case on Thursday. She pleaded before the police that her husband was innocent but the police did not let her husband go.
Disappointed with the police’ response, the woman attempted self-immolation, the sources added.
The woman poured kerosene and set herself ablaze in front of the police station. The cops rescued and rushed her to the nearest hospital.
A senior police official said that an investigation has been initiated in this matter.
