Jharsuguda: A married woman was shot dead in front of her house at Rohidaspada under Sarasmal police limits in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district late on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Kanaklata Rohitas, is survived by her husband and two children.
Sanand Rohidas, a kin of the deceased, told the media on Wednesday that his sister had come out of her house around 2.30 am when she was shot dead by an unidentified man. Hearing the gunshot, the villagers rushed to the house and found her lying in a pool of blood.
Following information, a team of Sarasmal Police arrived at the village in the wee hours. Later, senior police officials from the Sadar Police Station arrived at the village with a scientific team and a sniffer dog.
The exact cause of the incident was not yet known.
