Berhampur: In a bizarre incident, a woman allegedly slit the throat of her husband with a sharp-edged weapon at a village in Dharakote area of Odisha’s Ganjam district.

As per preliminary information, the man sustained critical injury after being attacked by his wife at Bariguda village under the jurisdiction of Dharakote police station following family feud.

Sources said that the woman took the step in a fit of rage as she was fed up with her husband’s drinking habits and frequent quarrels.

The injured man, identified as Rohit Patra (45), was first rushed to a hospital nearby for treatment. He was subsequently shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur and his condition was stated to be stable.

It is alleged that Rohit often returns home in a drunken state and causes a nuisance in the family. The tipsy man often beats up his wife, Kasturi Patra, over trivial issues.

He entered into an argument with his wife over some issue on Saturday night. Following a heated altercation, the woman took a sharp-edged weapon and allegedly slit Rohit’s throat and stabbed him on his back.
