SambalpurA woman and her son-in-law were killed and five others grievously injured in a tragic road accident in Jujumura area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district.
According to sources, the mishap took place near Jamtal under the jurisdiction of Jujumura police station in the district late Friday night.
The deceased persons have been identified as Payal Das Gupta and her son-in-law Shekhar Maharaj (30). Both were residents of Raipur in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
Sources said seven members of a family were travelling in an SUV. The accident occurred when the vehicle reportedly lost control and crashed into a road divider.
The injured were rushed to the VIMSAR, where Payal and Shekhar were declared brought dead.
Five others, who sustained injuries in the accident, were admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The exact circumstances leading to the accident remain unclear. The Jujumara police launched a probe into the incident.
