Angul: A woman and her infant son were killed after their car fell into a roadside gorge near Atharphutia under Thakurgarh police limits in Angul district on Friday.
They were identified as Manorama Biswal (28) and her son Ayush (2). While the mother-son duo died on the spot, Manorama’s husband Dhiren Biswal (42) sustained critical injuries in the accident. He has been admitted to Athmalik hospital.
The accident took place while the family, hailing from Tabeda village, was travelling to Deulajhari.
Police personnel and fire tender have reached the spot and started investigation.
Irked over the incident, some local residents blocked Atharphutia road demanding compensation to the family of the deceased.
