Woman Stabbed To Death For ‘Past Enmity’ In Cuttack City

Cuttack: A woman was stabbed to death reportedly due to past rivalry in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Monday evening.

As per reports, the woman, identified as Bharati Sahu, was engaged with a young man in Nehrupalli under CRRI police station in the city. As the argument escalated, the youth stabbed Bharati with a knife and fled.

As Bharati cried for help and fell down bleeding profusely, the locals rushed to the spot and admitted her in SCB Medical College and Hospital in the city. But the doctors declared her brought dead.

On being informed, a team from CRRI police station along with ACP went to the spot and started investigation. A manhunt has been launched to trace the accused.

Police sources said the youth, whose identity has not been revealed, had previous enmity with Bharati. The police had arrested him on the basis of a complaint filed by Bharati and the court had forwarded him to jail.

The youth was released from jail on bail a few days back. While the cause of fatal attack on Bharati has not been ascertained, the sources said several cases are pending against the accused.
