Woman Stabs Parents For Stopping From Speaking On Phone In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: A woman allegedly attacked her parents with a sharp weapon after they tried to stop her from speaking on the phone at a village in Odisha’s Balasore district, leaving both critically injured.

As per preliminary information, the incident took place Hatigadia village under the jurisdiction of Soro police station in the district on Monday night. The accused, identified as Kuni Singh, has been detained by police.

Sources said though Kuni is married, she was staying with her parents after leaving in-laws’ house some time back. The incident took place when Kuni was talking over mobile phone while skipping her dinner.

As her mother repeatedly asked her to stop talking and have food, Kuni got furious and attacked her parents with a vegetable cutter in a fit of rage. Her parents, Ranjit Singh and Buduni Singh, sustained critical injuries.

After being alerted by locals, a police team rushed to the spot and sent the injured couple to Soro Hospital. Ranjit was later shifted to Balasore Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

The police have detained the accused woman and launched an investigation into the incident. Further details are awaited.
