Angul: A woman was allegedly stoned to death in her house at a village in Odisha’s Angul district.
As per information, the incident took place at Khalari Jamubandha under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station in the district on Wednesday night.
The deceased, identified as Kuni Nayak (47), was living in a rented house with her son and daughter-in law. The incident was stated
to have occurred when the deceased woman’s son was away for work.
On the basis of the complaint filed by her son, the Police have detained his wife and mother-in-law for questioning. He alleged that his mother was stoned to death by his wife, who frequently quarreled with the deceased over domestic issues.
As per his complaint, he discovered her body lying in a pool of blood after he returned from work in the evening and went to call her for dinner. He immediately informed the police who rushed to the spot.
A scientific team and sniffer dogs also examined the crime scene on Thursday morning. The body has been sent to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for postmortem and an investigation is underway. The motive behind the gruesome murder is yet to be ascertained.
