Berhampur: A teacher of an English medium school died when a truck allegedly ran over her in the city on Thursday.
According to sources, the mishap took place while 37-year old teacher of De Paul School, identified as Sarita Das of Anand Nagar, was going on a Scooty and the truck ran over her near First Gate.
She was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. “We have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident, said SK Behera, inspector-in-charge, traffic police station, here. The truck has been seized and its driver arrested, he added.
The school was closed for her death as a mark of respect to the departed soul. The teachers and other staff of the school have expressed their condolence.
Sarita is survived by her husband and a daughter who is studying in Class VIII.
