Bhubaneswar: A woman teacher of a private engineering college in Tamando area, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, allegedly died after falling from the building of the educational institution on June 11.
The deceased has been identified as Barsha Mishra (23), a native of Keonjhar. She was working as a technical assistant in the computer science department of the college for the past one year.
According to sources, Barsha, who sustained critical injuries in the fall, was rushed to AIIM-Bhubaneswar and later shifted to a private hospital as her condition deteriorated but she succumbed during treatment.
Meanwhile, her family has lodged a complaint with Tamando police, alleging that the HOD of her department pushed her from the balcony of the institute. “The institute is equally responsible. She had dialled my mother informing that her HOD was miffed with her. She wanted our mother to speak to her, but the HOD threw away the mobile phone and started shouting at her. She then disconnected the call. Half an hour later, we were informed that she had fallen off the building,” her brother told the media.
He said that they were informed by her friends about the incident, which took place around 3 pm. “We had met the college authorities the following day and the VC said that they would look into matter,” he added.
The engineering college authorities are yet to respond to the allegations.
