Hyderabad: A 37-year-old woman working in the technology sector jumped to her death from the sixth floor of an apartment here on Friday evening carrying her six-month-old baby, who survived miraculously, police
said.
The victim has been identified as Esha Sahu, a native of Madhya Pradesh. She is survived by her husband and two daughters. Her husband, also originally from Madhya Pradesh and employed in the software industry, had reportedly been sent to a shop by Sahu shortly before the incident, police said.
However, the baby daughter miraculously survived as she landed on the cables of a solar fence of the apartment boundary wall.
Neighbours and the watchman of a nearby building heard the infant crying and pulled her out. She was taken to hospital, where doctors said on Saturday the child’s condition was out of danger.
Police said Sahu had been suffering from depression since the birth of her youngest daughter six months ago.
A case has been registered and investigators are probing the circumstances surrounding the incident, police added.
