New Delhi: A marital discord took an ugly turn when a mother allegedly threw her six-year-old disabled son into a crocodile-infested river in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka following a quarrel with her husband.

The incident took place in Halamadi village in Dandeli taluk on Saturday night. The woman, identified as Savitri, 36, and her husband, Ravi Kumar, 36, reportedly had frequent flights regarding their son Vinod’s hearing and speech impairment, News18 reported.

The police on Sunday morning retrieved the partially eaten body of the 6-year-old child from the jaws of the reptile. The police report stated that the child’s body had bite marks all over, and his right hand was missing.

Both parents, Savitri and Ravi Kumar, who work as a house help and a mason helper respectively, have been arrested.

A case of murder under IPC Section 302 has been registered against them. They have been remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
