Rourkela: A woman was trampled to death by an elephant at Kopasinga village under Bisra police limits in Sundargarh district late on Tuesday.
The victim identified as Padma Munda was sleeping in her house when the wild animal dragged her out and attacked her with its trunk. She was killed on the spot.
Following the incident, a group of angry villagers staged a road block with the woman’s body demanding adequate compensation for the kin of the deceased and immediate steps to check jumbo menace in the locality.
Six days ago, a man was killed after being attacked by a tusker at Katepur in the district while attempting to drive the animal away from the area with the help of locals and forest officials.
