Berhampur: In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly attempted suicide after throwing her three children into a well at a village in Aska area of Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The incident was reported from Lauguada village where the woman threw her two daughters and a son into a well late on Sunday night and then jumped into it. She took the extreme step when other family members were fast asleep.
According to preliminary reports, the woman and her elder daughter were rescued by the locals as they launched a rescue operation after hearing noise from the site.
However, two other children, including the minor son, could not be saved and their bodies were subsequently recovered by the Fire Services Personnel.
While the exact reason behind the extreme step taken by the woman is yet to be ascertained, the incident was suspected to have been triggered by some dispute in the family.
