Woman, Two Children Sustain Critical Burns In Mosquito Coil Fire

Cuttack: A woman and her two children sustained critical burn injuries in a fire that broke out in their house at Bentaguda village under Athagarh police limits in Cuttack district late on Thursday.

The woman, her daughter and son were sleeping in their house when the incident took place.

According to available information, the woman lit the mosquito coil, kept it in the corner of a room of the house and went to sleep with her children. The mosquito coil burnt out and somehow ignited the fire, injuring the trio and damaging properties including some essential items in the house.

Neighbours, who heard their cry for help, rushed to the spot and rescued them.

The victims have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Their condition is stated to be serious.
