Cuttack: A sweeper engaged in the casualty ward of SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) at Odisha’s Cuttack has alleged that she was raped by a supervisor on the hospital premises.
The matter came to light after the woman lodged a written complaint against the accused with Mangalabag police station recently. The woman alleged that she was sexually assaulted by the supervisor on May 7.
Based on her complaint, police have registered a case and launched a hunt to nab the accused, who has been on the run since the incident, sources said.
As per the complaint, the victim is engaged by an outsourced agency at the casualty ward of the premier healthcare facility. The supervisor allegedly called the woman on the pretext of cleaning some rooms in a hostel and raped her there.
The accused allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone. However, the survivor later mustered courage and approached the outsourcing agency and narrated her ordeal. As the agency failed to take any action, she lodged the complaint with the police.
While an investigation has been launched, efforts are on to trace the accused, police said.
