Woman’s Bare Body Found In Konark; Rape & Murder Suspected

Konark: Sending shock waves among locals of Konark in Puri district, the bare body of a woman was found near Jagannath temple in Konark of Puri district on Tuesday morning.

According to locals, they spotted the body lying in front a beetle shop with a handkerchief tied on the neck and immediately alerted the police.

The locals told the police that the woman was staying near the temple since last five years and she was a mentally challenged person.

Although the reason behind the death of the woman is yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation suggested that she was raped and murdered.

The body was seized and sent for post-mortem by police.

A similar incident was also reported from Berhampur in Ganjam district on May 10 after the naked body of a woman with her legs tied was recovered from the roadside at Sorala Chhack here.
